On October 31, GCC welcomed back White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi (L’15) to discuss how the Biden-Harris Administration’s climate strategy has advanced decarbonization and pollution reduction efforts by supporting U.S. manufacturing and driving economic growth. Georgetown students, faculty, and guests joined the discussion as Zaidi highlighted the transformative success of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, which have created new, high-quality clean energy jobs and sparked one trillion dollars of private investment into clean technologies.

Zaidi also emphasized that, during this “decisive decade” for climate action, the Biden-Harris climate playbook has reshaped the discourse around climate policy, putting bipartisan collaboration, investments in American manufacturing, and a focus on equity at the forefront of the energy transition.

“Georgetown Climate Center is an apt place to reflect on this playbook because that approach of co-locating with economic opportunity and coinciding with pollution reduction is impossible to execute without partnership – the kind you work to forge through your efforts here,” Zaidi said. “That means federal, state, local, and Tribal governments, public and private sector – everybody coming together to make a difference, one neighborhood at a time.”
