GCC is thrilled to welcome our 2024 Summer Research Assistants: Grant Black (3L), Miya Driscoll (2L), and Alex Rahill (2L). GCC's Research Assistants contribute to the Center's work at the nexus of state, federal, and local climate policy through analysis, research, and their unique perspectives on projects and initiatives.

"We are excited to see what these driven and passionate students will accomplish in their time with us this summer, and throughout their Georgetown Law education and beyond," said GCC Executive Director and GULC Senior Lecturer Kate Zyla.

GCC is committed to providing real-world law and policy experience to students poised to become the next generation of climate policy pioneers. Collaborating with GCC staff allows Georgetown students to shape climate solutions by conducting research and supporting work on environmental policy at the local, state, and federal levels. We are delighted to welcome our new RAs to the team this summer!

About GCC's 2024 Summer RAs

Alex Rahill is a rising 2L at Georgetown University Law Center who works as a Research Assistant across the Adaptation and Communications teams. She previously received a B.A. in Creative Writing from Vanderbilt University and is originally from Billerica, Massachusetts. Alex is president of GULC’s literary magazine, Legal Fiction, and service chair of the Environmental Law Society. She is passionate about environmental and climate justice and is excited to join GCC. 

Miya Driscoll is a research assistant at GCC, working with the Communications and Adaptation teams. She is a rising 2L at Georgetown University Law Center where she is an executive board member of Law Students for Climate Accountability. She studied philosophy and political science at Santa Clara University and was an editor for the Santa Clara Review literary magazine. Miya is from Daly City, California, and while she sometimes misses the cooler Bay Area climate, she does not miss the fog. She is excited to join the GCC team and contribute to the Center's mission of working with all levels of government to develop equitable strategies to address climate change.

Grant Black is GCC's Summer Mitigation Team Research Assistant. He is a rising 3L at Georgetown University Law Center and has eight years of dedicated experience in climate change mitigation. Legally speaking, Grant has experience in U.S. constitutional climate litigation and was on the trial team for Held vs. Montana, the United States' first constitutional climate case. He has international legal experience practicing human rights law while based in Amsterdam, NL, for his 2L summer. Academically, Grant has focused on economic law relating to international trade, critical mineral supply chains, technology transfers, and international finance. He has a demonstrated interest in national security law through his course work and extracurricular work organizing Georgetown Law's first National Security and Climate Change Symposium with the directors of the national security program and environmental law program. He is an experienced grassroots organizer, political campaign coordinator, and energy law and policy researcher. In his free time he enjoys the national gallery, making music, and traveling internationally.
