GCC congratulates the New York State Climate Action Council on adoption of historic Scoping Plan

December 19, 2022

The New York Climate Action Council today announced the approval and adoption of the New York State Climate Action Council Scoping Plan, which outlines policies and actions to serve as New York's roadmap to meet the state's climate goals and targets. The plan represents a three year process of collaboration and community engagement.

GCC Executive Director Kate Zyla shared the following statement:

"Addressing the climate crisis will require action in every sector of the economy. It's exciting to see the culmination of New York’s multi-year effort to match the state’s ambitious climate goals with a broad, far-reaching, achievable plan. We congratulate everyone who contributed to this milestone, including state agency staff and the thousands of community members and organizations who participated in the public engagement process. The Georgetown Climate Center looks forward to working with New York agencies and community members to inform the next step: the development and implementation of strong, equitable, effective climate regulations and policies."
