NBC Nightly News Discusses the Impact of Extreme Weather on Infrastructure with Vicki Arroyo and Other Experts

NBC's Tom Costello reports on how extreme weather is pushing the nation's aging infrastructure to its breaking point.

"Roads that might have been built for 85 degree temperatures can't necessarily withstand day after day of 100 degree temperatures like we've been seeing this summer," said Vicki Arroyo, executive director of the Georgetown Climate Center.

Buckling roads, sinkholes, bending rails, collapsing bridges, power outages and nuclear power plants forced to closed due to cooling water that has become too hot are just of few of the impacts we've seen this summer from the long-term warming trend that climate scientists expect to continue.
