Summary of State Actions to Support Local Progress

Because North Carolina's statewide adaptation plan, the North Carolina Resilience Plan, was just released in June 2020, this page captures ongoing activities that state agencies have been taking in support of local climate action, before adoption of the Plan. This research will be updated in the future with the progress the state is making in implementing the adaptation actions and goals set forth in the Plan.

In late 2018, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Division of Coastal Management released a new local government online resource page for coastal adaptation and resiliency. The webpage includes hazard forecasts, data, tools, guidance, and funding opportunities that local governments can learn more about and consider when preparing for coastal impacts like flooding.
