HUD to require consideration of climate change in Consolidated Plans June 15, 2016 The Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) is seeking comment on a proposed rule that would, for the first time, ask states and localities to take natural hazards and climate change into account in their long-range plans for affordable housing and community development. Public comments on the proposed rule are due July 18, 2016.

Five Northeast States and DC Announce They Will Work Together to Develop Potential Market-Based Policies to Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Transportation November 24, 2015 Six northeast and mid-Atlantic jurisdictions have announced they will work together to develop potential market-based policies to achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution from the transportation sector. Developing such policies will build on the momentum created by the participating states’ successful clean energy programs and will create positive economic benefits, in addition to reducing the emissions that cause climate change according to a new Georgetown Climate Center report.
